Counter Pedophilia Investigate Unit

CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) — R. Kelly’s child pornography trial was adjourned Wednesday after a lawyer for the R&B singer said he received a call from a man who claims to have information relevant to the case.

R. Kelly denies he was the man featured on a videotape having sex with an underage girl.

Judge Vincent Gaughan said attorneys needed time to depose the man, who potentially could impeach someone else’s testimony, but didn’t elaborate. Kelly attorney Sam Adam Sr. said the man was flying to Chicago Wednesday night from another state.

Kelly, 41, has pleaded not guilty to 14 counts of child pornography for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

His lawyers maintain he is not on the tape, and the alleged victim, now 23, has denied she is on the tape.

But a dozen witnesses have identified the same person as the alleged victim who prosecutors claim was a minor when the tape was made. Prosecutors claim the tape was made between January 1, 1998, and November 1, 2000, and that the female participant was born in September 1984. (more…)

LONDON, England (CNN) — Humanitarian aid workers and United Nation peacekeepers are sexually abusing small children in several war-ravaged and food-poor countries, a leading European charity has said.

Children like this 15-year-old girl have suffered abuse at the hands of some UN soldiers and aid workers.

Children as young as 6 have been forced to have sex with aid workers and peacekeepers in return for food and money, Save the Children UK said in a report released Tuesday.

After interviewing hundreds of children, the charity said it found instances of rape, child prostitution, pornography, indecent sexual assault and trafficking of children for sex.

“It is hard to imagine a more grotesque abuse of authority or flagrant violation of children’s rights,” said Jasmine Whitbread, chief executive of Save the Children UK. Watch a report on the abuse »

In the report, “No One To Turn To” a 15-year-old girl from Haiti told researchers: “My friends and I were walking by the National Palace one evening when we encountered a couple of humanitarian men. The men called us over and showed us their penises.

“They offered us 100 Haitian gourdes ($2.80) and some chocolate if we would suck them. I said, ‘No,’ but some of the girls did it and got the money.” (more…)

LYON, France (08/05/2008) – Within 48 hours of INTERPOL’s global appeal to the public, the prime suspect, Wayne Nelson Corliss, 58, from Union City, New Jersey, who was photographed sexually abusing young children in Southeast Asia in images distributed on the Internet was identified, located and arrested in Union City by Special Agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) based in Newark, New Jersey.

As a result of independent tips provided via the Internet to INTERPOL Headquarters in Lyon by three individuals living in the United States, the suspected child sex abuser targeted by INTERPOL’s Operation IDent, launched May 6, was arrested in the early hours of May 8 by ICE Agents.

“Two days ago, this man’s nationality, identity and location were totally unknown. All we had to go by were aWayne Nelson series of graphic photographs in which the suspect was seen sexually abusing young children and our confidence that the public and police worldwide would once again respond to INTERPOL’s call for assistance. That two days later, the primary suspect is now in custody is an outstanding achievement and a credit to the citizens, media and law enforcement worldwide who responded to INTERPOL’s call,” said INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble.

“The arrest made this morning by ICE agents in Newark, of a highly sought child predator suspect, is an outstanding example of international law enforcement partnership to keep children safe both in our countries and around the world,” said Julie L. Myers, Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for ICE. “Their work and the incredible response from the public to INTERPOL’s call for assistance made this arrest possible. All who value the safety and well-being of children should be heartened by this success.” (more…)

Rafael Nunez, the Deputy Director of the CPIU made an appearance in Bogotá Colombia at the Politecnico Gran Colombiano University.

Director Nunez provided an insight to students, educators and many others with insightful information on how child predators work and how to help prevent their own children from falling victim.

Also one of our staff member, Andrés Velazquez, kindly explained to the audience such topics as Computer Forensics, Electronics Evidence, Media Collection, Incident Response, Collecting Volatile Data, Imaging Electronic media and Forensics Analysis.

We were very glad to share with the Colombian people and students.

Mark Hullet, age 34 from Williston Vermont was found guilty of raping a 6 year old girl for 4 years, I said rape, not molested. So from 6-10 years of age, this girl was raped over, over and over again.

The prosecutor was seeking 20 years imprisonment. Which, honestly, still isn’t enough.

However, Judge Edward Cashman’s sentenced Hullet to a mere 60 days, where he will then be released back into society.

His reason was that child predators have a mental disease and there isnothing prison can do to treat that disease. He did not see why the state of Vermont should waste their money putting him in prison.

However, Vermont’s state code clearly states that a judge should take into consideration the damage done to the victim when issuing a punishment. This judge clearly did not do this.

Action can no longer be made in regards to this, as this case is now closed and minimal action has been made against this judge by politicians in Vermont.

Annual Report – January 05, 06′

In 2005 through joint operations with Perverted- Justce, the CPIU handled two major cases, both resulted in Federal arrests and convictions for two serial internet child predators.

Herman May, 47, was arrested at his home in July on charges of first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, child abuse of a 10-year old girl and two child pornography charges after an online discussion with a CPIU operative, where he described his activities with the minor and showed webcam footage. After working closely with the FBI in regards to this case, May has since pleaded guilty to all charges, and is facing life in prison.

Three more girls since his arrest have came forward with their own molestation charges against May. All of them relatives that are now in
their early 20s, afraid to speak up about this until what he was doing with his niece was brought out in public and he was arrested. May pleaded guilty to these charges as well.

The US Attorney’s Office in Birmingham AL then announced another indictment against May, a further federal indictment of producing child pornography after his siezed computer was forensically examined.

Then, the locals got involved. May was charged by the Marshall County
District Attorney’s Office with first degree sexual abuse. They say he forced his 10-year old niece to perform oral sex on him. (more…)
