Child abuse ‘victim’s’ dad joined BNP after hearing claims

THE dad of an alleged victim of a child abuse ring joined the BNP “after what had happened to her”, a court heard today.

The teen was 15 when the exploitation began, jurors were told.

Her father was asked by Simon Nichol, defending one of the 11 accused, about his daughter’s general behaviour in August 2008 and if it bothered him that his daughter was mixing with Asian men. (more…)

Woman charged with child abuse after crash

Child abuseJACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) – A Jackson County woman who crashed her car into a utility pole so hard it snapped in half is lucky to be alive. And so is the four-year-old she had with her in the front seat.

Jackson County Sheriff’s investigators said the accident happened Friday near the waste water treatment plant on Seaman Road. When deputies arrived, they found the driver, Brandy Foreman, under the influence of narcotics. They said Foreman drove her Ford Probe off the road and struck a utility pole, snapping it from its base. (more…)

Police: Child abuse suspect claimed ‘I dropped her’

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – A Las Vegas man charged in the death of his 3-month-old daughter told police he dropped the child on her head, according to an arrest report.

Justin Forsgren, 33, who also goes by the name Justin Villanova, was charged with murder by child abuse, and two counts of child abuse and neglect after his daughter, Rayea, died last Friday. (more…)

Jerry Sandusky’s lawyer seeks to delay child sex-abuse trial until July

Child abuse(CBS/AP) HARRISBURG, Pa. – On Monday, Jerry Sandusky’s lawyer asked the judge in his child sex-abuse case to delay the start of his criminal trial until mid-July, saying he needed more time to prepare.

Defense lawyer Joe Amendola said the additional two months would help him contact and interview witnesses, subpoena records and hire experts. Earlier this month, Judge John Cleland tentatively scheduled jury selection in the former Penn State assistant football coach’s trial to begin May 14. (more…)

Child-abuse accused asked for younger girls

A member of an alleged Greater Manchester child-abuse ring told his teenage victims to supply him with even younger girls, a court heard.

The witness, who cannot be identified, was giving evidence in the trial of 11 men accused of being part of a sexual exploitation ring operating in and around Rochdale, in 2008 and 2009.

Kabeer Hassan, 24, Abdul Aziz, 41, Abdul Rauf, 43, Mohammed Sajid, 35, Adil Khan, 42, Abdul Qayyum, 43, Mohammed Amin, 44, Qamar Shahzad, 29, Liaquat Shah, 41, and Hamid Safi, 22, have all pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child under 16. (more…)

Judge rejects dismissal in child sex cover-up case against cleric

Philadelphia (CNN) — A judge on Monday rejected a motion to dismiss charges against a Philadelphia archdiocese official accused of covering up evidence of suspected sexual abuse of children.

Attorneys for Monsignor William Lynn had asked a judge to throw out charges against him based on a March 1994 memo showing Philadelphia’s archbishop at the time, Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua, ordered the destruction of a secret list naming 35 Catholic priests suspected of abuse. (more…)

Registered sex offender from Conway charged in child abuse case

Child abuseHorry County police charged a Conway man in connection with a child abuse investigation launched Thursday.

Police were called after employees at an unnamed county middle school learned from students about a possible child abuse incident, according to a press release. As a result of the investigation, Horry County Police arrested Brentton Matthew Wheeler, 35, of Conway.

He was charged with abuse/to Inflict great bodily injury upon a child. (more…)

Former government worker Maggie Dawkins has told an inquiry into sexual abuse at St Andrews Hostel in Katanning that Peter Kenyon and Anglicare boss Ian Carter were named to her as people who were “concocting” to damage her credibility.

Mrs Dawkins, the wife of former Federal treasurer John Dawkins, said she had tried to raise concerns about hostel warden Dennis John McKenna back in 1985 to public figures in Katanning and her bosses at the Department of Employment and Training. (more…)

Records show alleged child abuse in RV Park rampage case

Child abuseFORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) — Officials released documents on a family detailing alleged child abuse prior to the father going on a deadly rampage at a South Florida RV park.

According to records at the Department of Children and Families, the department investigated alleged abuse occurring at William DeJesus’ house dating back to 2007, but returned the children to the family. (more…)
