LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A Nebraska man at the center of a sexual abuse case in which his victim had been threatened with jail time for refusing to testify has been sentenced to 270 days in jail.
The Lincoln Journal Star (http://bit.ly/LdvuP5) reports that 63-year-old Glen Riensche was sentenced Thursday in Lancanster County District Court after pleading no contest to misdemeanor child abuse. He had been accused of fondling a 7-year-old girl when he was in his 40s, but prosecutors dropped felony charges in exchange for his plea.
The plea deal came after the Nebraska Supreme Court ruled in May that the Kansas woman who was his victim when she was a child could be forced to testify. After the ruling, the woman told prosecutors she would testify, leading Riensche to plead no contest.
