Grandfather, girlfriend, charged in Lincoln County child abuse case

LINCOLN COUNTY • A grandfather and his live-in girlfriend have been charged after police say they failed to prevent or report serious injuries to his 3-month-old grandson.

The child’s mother, 16, has already been charged as a juvenile, police said.

Charged with accessory to abuse of a child are: Jason John Jordan, 38, and Theresa Lynn Samons, 36.

The baby’s mother is Jordan’s daughter. She and the baby boy lived with the couple in the first block of Wayne Drive in an unincorporated area of the county near Moscow Mills.

In October, police were notified after the infant, then 3 months old, was admitted to the Lincoln County Medical Center with what was described as a “non-accidental skull fracture.”

During questioning, the mother made statements that were not consistent with the child’s injuries, police said. Jordan and Samons both refused to be interviewed about what happened.

Bail for Jordan and Samons was set at $50,000 each.

The baby is recovering.
