OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A Utah judge has vacated a man’s 1990 conviction for child sex abuse, declaring him factually innocent of the crime.

The 54-year-old Ogden man, Kevin George Peterson, served 15 years in prison until 2007.

The full terms of a settlement are sealed, but court records show 2nd District Judge Scott Hadley ordered the Utah Office for Victims of Crime to make an “assistance” payment of $70,000 to Peterson.

The Standard-Examiner of Ogden reports (http://bit.ly/VLZ2pl) that Peterson’s now-grown children have renounced allegations of sex abuse. The newspaper says two children swore out affidavits saying they were coerced years ago by their mother and a stepfather to implicate him.

Peterson’s lawyers won’t reveal the full terms of the settlement with the Utah attorney general’s office.

Court records show Peterson’s conviction was erased Dec. 17.
