Silence over child abuse can now mean jail

Anyone who remains silent when they know a child is being abused can now be jailed for up to 10 years
A new law is in force making it an offence for anyone to remain silent when they know a child has been assaulted.
Justice Minister Judith Collins says it’s no longer acceptable for a family member, or anyone else, to claim they weren’t involved in the abuse of a child when they knew the child was at risk. (more…)
