Billionaire Pedophile Goes Free

whoiscarol | July 21, 2010 at 09:27 pm

Hedge fund mogul Jeffrey Epstein becomes a free man today, five years after he was first accused of sexually abusing underage girls. After months of reporting, The Daily Beast’s Conchita Sarnoff reveals exclusive details of the investigation and the legal wrangling that saved him from a long prison term. She reports:

• Palm Beach’s police chief objected to Epstein’s “special treatment” and gave The Daily Beast an exclusive look at his nine-hour deposition about the investigation.

• Earlier versions of the U.S attorney’s charges, including a sealed 53-page indictment, could have landed Epstein in prison for 20 years.

• Victims alleged that Epstein molested underage girls from South America, Europe, and the former Soviet republics, including three 12-year-old girls brought over from France as a birthday gift. (more…)

Brazil priest detained after pedophilia accusation

whoiscarol | April 22, 2010 at 09:38 am

By TALES AZZONI,

Associated Press.

SAO PAULO (AP) – Police detained an 83-year-old Brazilian priest after a congressional hearing produced allegations he molested boys as young as 12 and a television station displayed a sex tape of him in bed with a 19-year-old.

The pedophilia allegations against Msgr. Luiz Marques Barbosa are the most lurid of several sexual scandals to hit the Brazilian church recently, largely because of the videotape that has been widely distributed over the Internet.

Sen. Magno Malta, the lawmaker leading the legislature’s sexual abuse probe, said that the detention late Sunday of Barbosa was a milestone in the fight against child abuse in Brazil. He said the investigation is not an attack on the church, but at suspected child molesters.

Judge Romulo Vasconcelos, who participated in the congressional probe, told Globo TV on Monday that he requested Barbosa’s immediate detention out of fear that the priest would flee the country. (more…)

Pope to Receive New Pedophilia Victims

whoiscarol | April 13, 2010 at 10:40 am

Rome, Apr  (Prensa Latina)

Pope Benedict XVI announced his readiness to receive more victims of sexual abuses committed by priests, according to a communique issued by the Vatican on Friday.

In remarks to Vatican Radio, spokesman for the Holy Seed Reverend Federico Lombardi said the text addresses the approach to be followed by the Catholic Church against continuous cases of pedophilia committed by members of religious orders in several countries of Europe, Latin America and the United States, made public after several decades of silence.

Lombardi said the Church must “continue acting with determination and veracity against those responsible by applying properly the proceedings of the canon law, besides collaborating with civil authorities with regard to their judicial and criminal competences.”

Letter of the Pope on pedophilia marks the end of the politics of silence

whoiscarol | March 24, 2010 at 02:55 pm

The “Pastoral Letter” of Benedict XVI to the Irish, the Vatican released Saturday, is the first paper on pedophilia of a pope and confirms the willingness of the Church in the last decade to break the wall of silence, say several Vaticanists .

The so-called policy of silence, followed for decades by the Vatican, was obeyed even by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Benedict XVI, according to German press reports accusing him of having hosted in 1980 in the diocese of Munich to a priest history of child sexual abuse to undergo therapy.

The priest was later transferred to a parish without Ratzinger, the largest local authority, be informed and returned to transgress.

The case illustrates the attitude of the Catholic hierarchy until it erupted in 2000 many serious pedophilia scandals in the U.S.. js

The number of Muslim “import brides” – – almost all of whom are poorly educated school-age children – – is increasing at such a rate in the Netherlands that it is causing “the destabilization of society.”

So says Eberhard van der Laan, the Dutch government’s Minister of Housing, Communities, and Integration.

We can’t cope with it anymore,” Mr. van der Laan says.

The Dutch minister maintains that the problem has given rise to “crime, fraud, domestic violence, polygamy, and slavery.” Almost all of the import brides are under 18 – – some are children who have not entered puberty.

How many mature Muslim men in the Netherlands have child brides? Mr. van der Laan places the number at 15,000.

He said his children and two other wives agreed to the marriage, as did Safiya’s parents. And he claimed he wants to have more children with his young bride.
