Counter Pedophilia Investigate Unit

A 65-year-old Swiss man arrested in Venezuela was earlier sentenced in absentia for sexual offences in canton Bern, authorities in Switzerland say.

Officials in canton Bern confirmed media reports from the South American country about the arrest but declined to say whether the offences involved children.

The senior was arrested on January 28 on the Caribbean island of Margarita.

The Swiss government is expected to seek his extradition to Switzerland for sentencing.

However, venezuelans newspapers confirmed that this guy was captured by CICPC (Venezuelan Scientific Police Department) because sexual offences against children. The guy was solicited by Interpol.

This week the courts of Aragua-Caracas, Venezuela, issued sentences ranging from 20 to 25 years in prison for members of two groups that organized and filmed acts of pedophilia and disseminated them over the Internet.
